Dr. David Yomtoob
was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. While there, he received numerous awards for outstanding academic achievement. Dr. Yomtoob entered Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 2001 and completed a dual M.D. and M.B.A of Health Management degree in 2005. He then moved to Minnesota where he completed an Ophthalmology residency at the University of Minnesota. While there, he was voted Resident Teacher of the Year for two years in a row. In 2008, he was the only Ophthalmologist in the country to receive the prestigious Gold Foundation: Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award.
Specialty
Due to his strong interest in patient care, Dr. Yomtoob completed his Glaucoma Fellowship right here at the University of California at Irvine. While there, he had the privilege of being trained by some of the most well respected Glaucoma specialists in the world. As a Glaucoma specialist, Dr. Yomtoob is an expert in the medical and surgical treatment of all forms of Glaucoma. He performs a wide array of surgeries including Trabeculectomy, Trabectome, Insertion of Aqueous Drainage Devices (commonly known as “tubes”) and all forms of Glaucoma Laser procedures.
In addition to Glaucoma, Dr. Yomtoob specializes in other forms of anterior segment surgery, including no-stitch cataract surgery, implantation of Multifocal and Accommodating intra-ocular lenses, Toric Lenses and Refractive Lens Exchange. Also, Dr. Yomtoob has extensive training in treating patients with macular degeneration, dry eye and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Yomtoob prides himself on connecting with and getting to know each patient, and strives to provide each patient with compassionate care and cutting edge therapy.
On a personal note, Dr. Yomtoob is very happy to be back in Orange County. He enjoys playing and watching football and basketball, outdoor barbeques, and all of the wonderful outdoor activities California has to offer.
